Kathleen Curtis's portrait and plaque was unveiled at the Kathleen Curtis Atrium naming ceremony in November 2018 in recognition and celebration of her contributions to science in New Zealand.

The Women in Science Network is hosting bake sale and brown bag lunch in the Kathleen Curtis Atrium at lunchtime on International Women's Day

The event is open to all students and staff - and will feature a cake stall to raise money for SPINZS | a charity addressing the needs of hundreds of girls from lower socio-economic backgrounds who skip school every month because their families can’t afford to buy sanitary products.

Bring your lunch and a gold coin donation to purchase a delicious muffin, slice, biscuit or cake - and stay to listen to Dr Siouxsie Wiles and other women scientists.

You may also like to wear purple, green or white, the colours of the suffrage movement.

This year's international theme is #BalanceforBetter which focuses on the need for a gender-balanced world in the boardroom, in government, in media coverage, in companies employees, in wealth and more.

If you would like to contribute a home baked treat for the cake stall, bring it to the event or drop it to the Department of Mathematics, Room 303-240 (with a note saying what you have made for labelling purposes).
