An important partnership between the University of Auckland’s George Mason Centre for the Natural Environment (GMCNE) and the Gulf Innovation Fund (G.I.F.T) created by Foundation North was sealed in July.

Executive Director of Foundation North, CEO Jennifer Gill, and Professor John Hosking, Dean of Science, signed a Letter of Agreement to formally establish the partnership. The ensuing collaboration aims to draw on the respective strengths of the two organisations to foster capability building and to support positive change in our natural environment.

Both parties recognise their mutual interest in the natural environment and education sectors and, in particular, initiatives that foster good governance and the conservation of natural capital.

The George Mason Centre for the Natural Environment launched earlier this year to foster solutions-focused research that supports a diverse range of projects. The partnership with Foundation North is an important milestone for the Centre and its partners to show leadership in natural environment research and its application.
