3 Minute Thesis Competition

Registration for 2017 has now closed but we are excited to be holding the inaugural Science heats for The University's 3 Minute Thesis competition on Wednesday 19 July 9.30-11.00am in Medium Chemistry Lecture Theatre.

In this competition postgraduate students have three minutes to explain their thesis with the help of one single static PowerPoint slide.

Entries were open to research masters students and doctoral candidates undertaking research – Masters students must be currently enrolled in a research project of 90 points or more; doctoral candidates must have successfully passed their confirmation milestones (successfully completed their Provisional Year). Doctoral and masters candidates whose theses are under examination are eligible to compete; graduates are not eligible.

We will select a winner from each of the Masters and Doctoral categories and the winners will represent Science in the University 3MT Final on 3 August.

Staff and students are encouraged to come and support our competitors.  The Masters heat will take place from 9.30-10.00am and the Doctoral heat from 10.00-11.00.  Please do not interrupt the sessions so as to give the students the best chance possible.

There are great prizes to be won and the winners of the University finals will represent us at the Inter Uni-Masters Challenge at Victoria University in Wellington (Masters winner) on 24 August 2017 or at the 3MT Asia-Pacific Final in Brisbane (Doctoral winner) on 29 September 2017
