The study of science at the University of Auckland will provide you with a deep understanding of the world around you and equip you with the skills to help society grasp the opportunities and solve the problems of the 21st century.

The knowledge and competencies you acquire with a degree in science from New Zealand’s world-ranked university will present you with a wide array of career opportunities upon graduation. Importantly, unlike narrow vocationally-specific degrees, a broad-based undergraduate science degree allows you to change career paths by adding specialised postgraduate qualifications in science, business, humanities or education to your undergraduate degree. Such career flexibility is very important in a world that is ever changing.

As a student in the Faculty of Science your experience will include the following:

  • You will be studying at New Zealand’s highest ranked Faculty of Science.*
  • You will be taught by some of New Zealand’s top teachers and researchers. Over one-third of New Zealand’s A-quality-ranked academics work at the University of Auckland – almost 50% more than at any other university. Studying with such internationally-renowned researchers provides you with an education based on the latest advancements.
  • You will have the choice of studying a wide variety of degrees and subjects including the Bachelor of Science (BSc) and a broad array of tuition-based and research-based postgraduate programmes.
  • You will have ready access to excellent teaching and research facilities ranging from modern information technology resources to the Leigh Marine Research Laboratory.
  • You will be able to take advantage of the University’s networks with premiere international universities through exclusive consortia such as Universitas 21 and the Association of Pacific Rim Universities of which the University of Auckland, alone in New Zealand, is a member.
  • You will be able to enjoy the vast recreational and cultural opportunities offered by a large cosmopolitan, tolerant city with a warm and temperate climate.
