Faculty of Science - Leading creativity and innovation in the sciences

Tuākana programme

Equity at Auckland runs a Tuākana-Teina programme for Māori and Pacific students.

About Tuākana

The first step to success for undergraduate students is becoming involved in the Tuākana programme. This tutoring and mentoring programme has been operating for over 20 years, and began in the Faculty of Science.

Within the Tuākana programme you can expect to receive tutorial support, course information, exam workshops, opportunities to connect with potential employers, and an established cohort of students and staff to walk alongside as you move toward achieving your goals.

Study rooms and facilities

Around the Faculty of Science there are rooms available for Tuākana students to use for individual or small group study, or to meet and work with tutors and mentors.

In each of these rooms you will find tutorials, revision sessions, or just a place to relax and refocus on the work you need to get done. Our Tuākana members will also be nearby to answer any questions you might have. Kaua e whakamā – don't be shy, they're there to help!
